I was born and raised in Calgary. In 2007, I moved to Edmonton where I eventually obtained my BSc. with a Specialization in Geology. That’s right, geology, the study of rocks and Earth process. My work as an exploration geologist took me to many amazing remote locations in Nunavut, British-Columbia, Manitoba and Alaska. After a few years, I wanted a job where I could be home more often and began working as a hydrogeologist.

As someone who was always creative and artistic, I found myself needing a creative outlet. I took silversmithing and pottery classes after work, I started to paint and draw again. Yet it never felt enough to balance out my work days, and I came to realize that my job didn’t feel quite right. Eventually, I decided to go back to school to study design, a profession where I could combine my love for all things analytical with my passion for the arts.
